The contract for Phase 1 was awarded to Bambanani Joint Venture, a joint venture between Rumdel Construction and BEE partner Zingisa Construction cc

The contract constitutes the following:

1 200m of dual carriageway with median (4 lanes), 800m of local collector roads (2 lanes) and 300m of access roads (2 lanes).

Approximately 1050m of stormwater reticulation with some 750m of portal culverts, catchpits, manholes, gabions, and stone pitching. Earthworks for the drainage is approximately 60 000m3 of cut to fill.

Two reinforced concrete sewage pumpstations, with 4 400m of bulk sewage reticulation, as well as 1 900m of internal gravity sewage reticulation. All electrical and mechanical work for the pumpstations is included in the contract.

The contract also includes internal water reticulation of approximately 7400m, and service ducts of approximately 30 000m.

This contract is due for completion in September 2006, approximately 4 month ahead of schedule.
